Sacraments

The sacraments are at the heart of Catholic life. Through them, we encounter Christ, are strengthened in faith, and are drawn more deeply into the life of the Church.

Holy Family Parish welcomes families, children, young people and adults who are preparing to receive the sacraments. Please contact the parish office for current preparation details, dates and requirements.

Arranging a Sacrament

Sacrament preparation and celebration arrangements can vary depending on age, school enrolment, parish participation and individual circumstances. The parish office can help direct you to the right preparation pathway.

Baptism

Baptism is the first sacrament of Christian initiation and welcomes a person into the life of the Church. Parents seeking Baptism for their child are invited to contact the parish office for current preparation and booking details.

Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a celebration of God’s mercy and forgiveness. Please contact the parish office for current times, preparation information, or to arrange a time with the priest.

Eucharist / First Holy Communion

The Eucharist is the source and summit of Catholic life. Children preparing for First Holy Communion usually do so through a parish or school-based preparation process. Families are asked to contact the parish office for current details.

Confirmation

Confirmation strengthens the gifts of the Holy Spirit and completes the sacraments of Christian initiation. Preparation arrangements may vary, so families and candidates are invited to contact the parish office for current information.

Marriage

Couples planning to celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage are asked to contact the parish well in advance. This allows time for preparation, documentation and discussion with the priest.

Anointing of the Sick

The Anointing of the Sick brings Christ’s comfort, strength and peace to those who are seriously ill, elderly, preparing for surgery or in need of spiritual support. Please contact the parish office if you or a loved one would like to arrange this sacrament.

Holy Orders and Vocations

Those discerning a vocation to priesthood, diaconate, religious life or other forms of service in the Church are encouraged to speak with the parish priest or contact the parish office.

Becoming Catholic

If you are interested in becoming Catholic, returning to the Church, or learning more about the Catholic faith, Holy Family Parish would be glad to help you take the next step.
